Our Adoption

Hrmm... How do I feel about my family adopting?

It depends on the day honestly. I think having a new brother or sister would be really fun. I love all my siblings (it's a secret... Shhh!) but sometimes its hard. I think having a sibling with DS (Downs Syndrome for those acronymaly challenged) would be really... Different. Mom has a lot of friends with children with DS and they are the sweetest kids ever.  I think having a sibling with DS might make our family sweeter... Cause some of those kids.. To quote my mother I could eat with a spoon! I can't wait until our homestudy is done because they we can bring a child with DS home to their forever family...

Minecraft

This year for Christmas I got a really cool present from someone who will remain nameless....
But, I got a membership to this really cool game called Minecraft. Here is the just of this game... You have a character and you use them to build this virtual world! It's really fun and not only do I play it but all my siblings love it! Which is cool and not so cool... It was MY present after all. But, having 3 siblings makes me a good sharer. Somehow my brother thought that I was an all mighty builder and that I am the best in the world. However, that is a total lie. He is AH-MAZING! He built my little sister (10) a hockey rink so that her beloved Peeka Rinne would have a place to stay. He is just a great bulilder and I tell him that all the time!

The point of this blog is to convey the message that kids with Autism have super amazing talents just like everybody else. My brother happens to be super creative and really smart, and by encouraging your sibling you give them a key that will unlock a door of something super awesome that somehow fits a door metaphor. SO encourage your sibling and help them do what they are good at. It might pay off...

And thanks for the Christmas present nameless person...

About Me

I once read a quote that said "God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers."
The reason this quote means so much to me is that me and my sisters are the some of the strongest soldiers.
We have a brother with Autism. Don't get me wrong my lil' brother is one of the smartest, most amazing, and creative boys I know. But, sometimes being his sister is hard. That's why I started this blog. For all those kids that have a sibling with Autism.

Let me tell you a little about myself. I am in 14 and my brother is 12. I also have 2 sisters. One is 10 and the other is 4, and we are currently in the process of adopting a child with down syndrome. As you can tell my house is pretty crazy! But, somehow I am able to maintain a life (I wouldn't call it normal) and have friends who I wouldn't call sane. :P  I love reading, listening to music, writing, and dancing. (badly) I don't use Twitter, but I am obsessed with Facebook. I have crushes on actors and singers. I can't sing, but in my head I sound like Adele.

My goal in starting this blog is to explain what it's like to have siblings with disabilities from ADHD and dyslexia all the way to Autism and soon Downs Syndrome.

Now let's begin.
